ABSTRACT

Research about the influence of acetic acid toward Fe, Cu and protein concentration in the leaves of water hyacinth has been carried out. Heavy metal concentrations were analyzed using atomic spectroscopy method after wet destruction and protein samples were analyzed using the Kjedahl method. Treatment of various concentrations of acetic acid were 0.5% (v / v), 1.0% (v / v) and 2.0% (v / v) as an immersion medium of water hyacinth leaves. All variation of the concentration was carried out during the immersion time 8 hours, 16 hours and 24 hours. The results showed that the variation concentration of acetic acid were less influence all parameters. The longer immersion time would caused lower % protein, immersion time for 24 hours decreased the concentration of protein up to 58.02% for the concentration of acetic acid 2.0% (v / v). The longer immersion time to 16 hours would caused lower Fe and Cu concentration. Fe were more adsorbed back after 24 hours with reduction percentage up to 72.31% compare to more electronegative Cu with reduction percentage up to 64.34% for acetate acid 2.0% (v/v).
